Many Sorted Algebraic Data Models for GIS

چکیده

Although many GIS data models are available, a declarative, operational, well-defined, implementation-independent, and objectoriented language is lacking. Based on the theory of many sorted algebra, this work presents a family of geometric data models. Some geographical data models of urban information systems are illustrated using homomorphism. According to the results, the preferred characteristics of mixing declarative and operational statements, multiple representations, tight interdependency among objects, and integration of vector and raster based systems can be achieved through this mechanism.

Abstract Computability, Algebraic Specification and Initiality

Computability and Algebraic Specifications Abstract Abstract computable functions are defined by abstract finite deterministic algorithms on many-sorted algebras. We show that there exist finite universal algebraic specifications that specify uniquely (up to isomorphism) (i) all absract computable functions on any many-sorted algebra; and (ii) all functions effectively approximable by abstract ...

Test Selection for Specification-Based Unit Testing of Object-Oriented Software based on Formal Specifications

ion in CO-OPN/2 is provided by two kinds of sorts: algebraic sorts and class types. Not all entities in a CO-OPN/2 system are objects, some of them are merely algebraic values, without identity. Thus CO-OPN/2 stands in the class of hybrid object-oriented specification languages. Sorts provide services, called functions for algebraic sorts, and methods for objects. Methods are special transition...

Mind the Gap! Abstract Versus Concrete Models of Specifications

In the theory of algebraic specifications, many-sorted algebras are used to model programs: the representation of data is arbitrary and operations are modelled as ordinary functions. The theory that underlies the formal development of programs from specifications takes advantage of the many useful properties that these models enjoy. The models that underlie the semantics of programming language...

Parametrization for Order-Sorted Algebraic Specification

We investigate parametrization for order-sorted algebraic specifications. As a prerequisite we study free constructions for order-sorted algebras and relate the various approaches to order-sorting. Then we analyse parameter passing, the result being that the notion of ordersorted specification has to be restricted in order to establish our main result, namely, that parameter passing satisfies t...

Presenting functors on many-sorted varieties and applications

This paper studies several applications of the notion of a presentation of a functor by operations and equations. We show that the technically straightforward generalisation of this notion from the one-sorted to the many-sorted case has several interesting consequences. First, it can be applied to give equational logic for the binding algebras modelling abstract syntax. Second, it provides a ca...
